We here at The Barbecue Lab can appreciate cracking open a nice cold beer to accompany our barbecue. We are, after all, seeking the best experience when it comes to flavor. We were curious at some of the numbers of the beer industry - we wanted to know which beer is the most popular.

We found that even though it’s consumption has been declining, beer remains the most popular alcoholic beverage in the United States. The number of 2.25 gallon cases consumed in the US in 2019 was around 2.7 million.

It’s projected that the worldwide alcoholic beverage market leader in 2021 will be beer with a market volume of $651, 398 m.

Is the beer industry growing? 

Looking at the numbers for the US beer market share 2019 show us some interesting data. While beer sales declined 2% from previous years in 2019, craft beer continued to grow by 4%. A craft beer market analysis shows that craft beer reached 13.6% of the beer market volume in 2019. Imported beer makes up 19% of the beer market share.
