This machine is 500 watts, and 7 quarts, and comes with the regular beater, squeegee beater for things like cake mixes, a wire whisk, improved pouring shield, and a pig-tail dough hook, a huge improvement on the old flat hook. First time making bread (NEVER go over the #2 speed!) it powered through the dough quietly and only after many, many minutes got a little warm, where the old one couldn't be run for more than 2 minutes at a time (when kneading dough) with a minute or two to cool each time. I didn't even have to do a final hand knead!
Despite being bigger and stronger it actually doesn't take up much more real estate than the old one and feels a bit lighter surprisingly, although still very heavy. Lots of little improvements: A nice knob on the lifting jack handle, a better-looking brushed nickel knob on the speed control over the old black plastic one, and 11 speeds rather than ten. The pouring shield is now one piece rather than two and enclosed on top rather than open, and works very well. They even upgraded the power-takeoff locking screw and cover. Finally, they added a cord wrap when not using it.
So far, the only drawback is the handsome textured matte black finish: flour gets stuck on it much more easily than on the smooth finish. I do not know if the other colors are the same or smooth, but this was the right color for our kitchen.
My last KitchenAid Mixer lasted over 10 years and just one day the motor stalled while
I was mixing bread dough and my beloved mixer that I used daily died on me.
My husband bought me this one and I LOVE IT. If you have had older models you can tell how updated this one is. It's much quieter than my older KitchenAid. I have a large family and I have to make large quantities in the mixer and the old one seemed to be able to knead dough but you can tell it put stress on the machine. You can tell this just does it quite easily. It also comes with an attachment that I have never seen before- the flex beater. I can't wait to try it out. $500 for a mixer is a hefty price but these mixers last a long time and mine gets heavy daily use so it's worth the price.

I am so happy with this mixer. It has a dough hook that helps make bread dough in a jiffy. I can make 4 loaves of bread at once instead of the one loaf in the bread maker. It also has other attachments that come with it. One that I like is the beater that works great for stiff cookie dough.
Also, what makes it unique is that the bowl lowers instead of having to raise the top like other mixers. It is made with quality parts and no plastic!
In the future, I plan to purchase some of the attachments that grind meat, make juice and so much more.

**********2 Gros Pain sandwich super moelleux **********
Env, 26-28C.
« PAUSE 60 minutes farine tout-usage» Temp. Env, 26-28C.
I would recommend this mixer.
